Aden Heath Powell, 9, of Olathe, Kansas, formally a resident of Duncan, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, with his family at his bedside.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Gospel Beams Church, with his grandfather, the Rev. F. Ray Ledbetter officiating, and interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Aden was born Aug. 20, 2007, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Disa D. Schornick and Heath Powell, Aden attended school in Duncan before moving to Olathe, Kansas, and he was a member of Gospel Beams Church in Duncan.
Aden is survived by his parents; Disa and Toffer Schornick, and Heath Powell and Kelly Long; brothers, Kane Powell, Creed Powell and D. J. Schornick; sisters, Averee Schornick, Keirstin Schornick and Amber Schornick; grandparents, the Rev. Ray and Dianna Ledbetter, Dennis and Patti Powell, and Shirley and Dale Barker and Buck and Joyce Schornick; great-grandparents, Margaret Bundick and Phyllis Powell.
Aden was preceded in death by his great grandparents; Rudolph Powell, Clarence Bundick, and Rev. Curtis & Daisy Ledbetter and Opal Sanders.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Baldwin, Mike Peters, Jason Burns, Kevin Hjany, Joel Ledbetter, Jon Ledbetter, D.J. Schornick, Kane Powell and Nathan Powell.
