Anthony McCartney entered the Kingdom of Heaven Feb. 12, 2017. Anthony was born Dec. 24, 1941, to Wayne and Ophir McCartney. He was the youngest of nine children. He was a lifelong resident of the Loco, Oklahoma, area where he met and married his sweetheart, Barbara. Anthony and Barbara had two children Christy and Debbie.
Anthony began working the oilfield as a teenager until his retirement just a few short years ago. He enjoyed farming and tending to his cows. He grew watermelons during the summer which were enjoyed by many family and friends.
Anthony loved camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. Some of his fondest memories were trips with family and friends. He enjoyed many trips to Eastern Oklahoma with lifelong friend Al Wilson.
Anthony will be joining many family members in heaven to include his wife; parents; siblings and a daughter, Carrie Layne McCartney.
He is survived by a son, Mark McCartney; daughters Christy Labrado and husband Javier, of Erick, Oklahoma, Debbie Richardson of Velma, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lanna Mills and husband Gary, of Erick, Laramie Gardner and wife, Kristie, of Velma, Lane McCracken, of Central High, Oklahoma and Ty Richardson, of Velma; great-grandchildren, Lucy Gardner, Stockton Mills and Chaite Richardson.
A special thanks to Anthony's nephew and niece, Leslie and Brenda McCartney, of Elmore City, Oklahoma, who welcomed him into their home and cared for him these past several months. Your companionship, compassion and love for him were precious gifts to him, his children and grandchildren. Thank you to the angels of Cross Timbers Hospice for all your support and quality care.
