"Autrey" Wayne's Story
"Autrey" Wayne Martin, age 80, a longtime resident of Duncan, peacefully passed away late Thursday evening, July 5, 2018 in Duncan. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the pavilion at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Dee Bowen officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will be Monday 1:00-5:00 on Sunday, and Monday 9:00-1:00 The family will be receiving friends on Sunday afternoon, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Wayne was born April 2, 1938 in Etowah County, Alabama, to Gus T. and Addie Bell (Hicks) Martin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He and Josephine Wyrick were united in marriage on May 31, 1959 in Henrietta, Texas. Wayne was a truck driver the for Joe Brown Company for many years. He was known to be able to fix just about anything. He enjoyed "piddling around" working on things. Wayne enjoyed playing Rummy and Rook. More than anything else, though, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his two children: Rodney Martin, Duncan; and Robin Jordan and husband Steve, Shawnee, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: April Clinkenbeard, Heather Martin, Kathy Shawn, Brian Clinkenbeard, Will Shawn, Megan Martin, and Jackson Martin; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Josephine; and his second wife, Lajeana; a son, Christopher Todd Martin; 9 brothers and sisters: Gladys Johnson, Ray Martin, Opal Wells, G.T. Martin, Martha Martin, Billy Martin Dwight Martin, Donald Martin, and Brent Martin.
