Barbara Jean Browning, 76, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away Thursday May 18, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy L. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery.
Barbara Jean Browning was born on March 28, 1941, in Lawton, Oklahoma to John R. and Nola (Tyson) Browning. Barbara graduated Duncan High School in 1958. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
In 1960 she went to work for First Christian Church, at the age of 19, as the church secretary and later became the finance secretary. A career that would span for over 48 years before retiring in 2008.
Barbara enjoyed working on crafts and making flower arrangements. She was a very sweet and kind friend to all that had the pleasure of meeting her. She was a tremendous listener. She'd take the time to meet with family, friends and church members to talk about all things.
She was very proud of her great nephew, Dustin Hampton, who she considered to be a son.
She is survived by her sister, Penny Skinner and husband Charles, of Lawton, Oklahoma; great nephew, Dustin Hampton, of the home; her uncle, Jerry Tyson of San Antonio, Texas; her aunt, Ruth Browning of Arizona; numerous cousins, friends and church family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Bennie Browning.
