Bill "Billy"'s Story
Bill "Billy" Dan Clayburn Sr., 73, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, March 8, 2017 in Duncan surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday March 10, 2017 at the Ray of Hope Church with Pastor Mike McCord officiating, assisted by Pastor Dow Pannell and Ronny Bernard. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
Bill Dan Clayburn Sr. was born on Dec. 29, 1943 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Fate O'Dell Clayburn and Wilma (Long) Clayburn. Billy attended Comanche public school. He married the love of his life Edna Rose Wade on October 26 ,1962 in Duncan. He was a faithful member of the Ray of Hope Church. Billy worked for Montgomery Wards Tire Shop in the 1960s. Then he went to work for Halliburton as an assembler for over 35 years before retiring in 2006.
He then worked for Tilley's Trucking service for and additional 6 years before retiring fully. Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather he enjoyed taking care of animals, working hard, and taking walks with his dog, Trixie.
Billy is survived by his son, Billy D. Clayburn Jr. and his wife Juton of Duncan; daughter, Lisa Clayburn of Comanche; brothers, Leonard Clayburn and Randy Clayburn; sisters, Linda Clayburn Hancock and Virginia Clayburn; granddaughter, April Doolan and her husband Ted; great grandson, Easton Doolan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Billy is preceded by his wife of 51 years Edna Rose Wade, his parents, Fate and Wilma Clayburn; sister, Vicki Selby; mother and father-in-law, John and Vedas Wade; step-mother, Ruby Tanner; brother in law, J. E. Wade; and sister in law, Glenda Wade. Pallbearers will be Ted Doolan, Perry Helton, Sonny Bumpas, Bryan Fisher, Josh Baker, David Murillo and Timothy Doolan. Honorary Pallbearers Alphaeus Bohannon, Easton Doolan and his coworkers from Wards, Tilley's and Hallburton. Condolences may be left to the family at www.granthamfuneralhomes.com.
