Bill's Story

  Bill Martin, longtime resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.  He was 95 years old.  A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.  Interment will follow, with full military honors provided by the Stephens County Combined Honor Guard, at the pavilion at Fairlawn Cemetery.  Viewing will be Friday 9:00 a.m. until service time.
     Bill was born January 25, 1922 to William James and Virginia Alice (Brown) Martin.  He proudly served his country in the US Army.  He owned and operated Martin Propane for many years. Bill loved gardening, and spent many hours working outdoors.   He was known as a very giving man.  He was married to Jo Etta Hughes and later married Mary Satterfield.
     He is survived by his children: DiLynn Hayes and husband Charles, Comanche;  Belinda Calabro, Oklahoma City, OK; and Billy Martin, Eufala, OK.  Also six grandchildren: Hope Calabro Horras, Alisha Lynn Martin, William James Martin, Bryan Hayes and wife Brandi, William Boyd "Jocko" Hayes and wife Alisha, and Melinda Kaye Alton and husband John.
