Bob's Story

Bob Chambless took his last breath on Earth and his first breath in Heaven at 8 p.m. Monday April 3, 2017.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery.
Family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bobbie Gene Chambless was born May 22, 1930, in Cement, Oklahoma, to Earl Chambless and Inga Sands Chambless. He attended Pioneer School and graduated in 1947. He married Lola Lee Groseclose on May 25, 1951, in Chickasha Oklahoma. She preceded him in death Dec. 23, 2003, they were married 52 years.
He started work at OTASCO on Oct. 11, 1947, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. On Sept. 19, 1950, he took a military leave of absence from OTASCO and joined the Navy, he was honorable discharged July 19, 1954, with a rating of Mineman 2. He returned to work at OTASCO in August of 1954 in Wichita, Kansas, he then moved to Ada, Oklahoma. He was promoted to Assistant Manager of OTASCO in Norman, Oklahoma and then Duncan, Oklahoma, before being promoted to manager in Springfield, Missouri. In 1968 he became manager of the Duncan, Oklahoma, store and finished his career at this store retiring after 35 years.
For the past 12 years he has resided at the Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Our Dad and Papa was an amazing man. He was a people person and never forgot a name or how he knew you. He was kind, smart, always had a new joke for us no matter how he was feeling, he gave the best advice and most of all he was the strongest man any of us have ever known.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dana and Kim Chambless, of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Mike and Carla Chambless, of Farmersville Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jackie Wall of Duncan, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jason and Blaze Chambless, of Sherman, Texas, Bree Chambless, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carly and Tyler Duerr, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jaci Vinson and Rowdy Vinson, both of Duncan, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Maddy, Lexi and Gage Chambless, all of Sherman, Texas; and one great-grandson Ruger Lee Vinson due the end of April; a sister, Alma Lawrence, of Norman, Oklahoma; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; his parents and two brothers Paul and Junior.
Pall Bearers will be Dana Chambless, Mike Chambless, Jason Chambless, Rowdy Vinson, Jackie Wall and Tyler Duerr.
We would like to thank the Lawton/Ft Sill Veterans Center Staff for caring for our dad for the past 12 years.
