Celeste Lee Leach, 87, of Duncan, OK passed away Monday February 5, 2018, after a long battle with cancer and with her husband by her side.

Born in Geary, OK, on Jan. 12, 1931, to Dr. Wade H. and Opal Lee Smith, she lived in Weatherford, OK until graduating with a degree in art from Southwestern. She taught art in Stinnett, TX and later in Tulsa before moving back to Weatherford until her marriage to Gerald Leach on Aug. 5th, 1956. They moved to Duncan to work with Halliburton in Jan. of 1957 and transferred in Mar. of 1959 to Maracaibo, Venezuela for 4 years. They returned to make their home in Duncan for the last 55 years. Celeste worked at the Duncan Public Library for 10 years, retiring Aug. 1990. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in Aug. of 2017.
She is Grammy to her family, and she was proud of her 3 children and treasured her 5 grandchildren. She genuinely loved her sons-in-law and grandsons-in-law as her own. Family enjoys their home as the setting for all holidays and celebrations, which she and Papa have always hosted. Celeste will be remembered by her knack for story-telling, zany wit, and spunky antics. She never met a stranger--not even among youngsters. She had a way of making people feel they were part of her family.
Celeste is survived by her husband Gerald, son Michael Leach of Houston, daughters Patty DeFriese and husband Bruce of Edmond, and Dana Pewitt and husband Tony of Duncan, brothers Wade Jr., of Bethany, and Winston, of Florida, granddaughters Jesse Blythe Skidmore and husband Samuel of Dallas, Madison Dunlap and husband Jacob of Duncan, grandsons Jared DeFriese of Florida, Mason Pewitt of Duncan, Jacob DeFriese of Edmond.
