Coolidge's Story

Coolidge Dale "C.D." White, 93, and long-time resident of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Wilkins Nursing Home in Duncan surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday January 5, 2018 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Stough officiating. Entombment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum under the care of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by Stephens County Honor Guard.
Coolidge Dale White was born on October 9, 1924 in Birmingham Ridge, Mississippi to Johnny Young White and Georgia (Mayber) White. After high school C.D. would go on to serve his country, joining the US Army in 1944 serving during World War 2 and during the Korean War reaching the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1952. C.D. would marry Opal Carroll on May 22, 1943 in New Albany, Mississippi. They were happily married for 60 years before Opal passed away in December 19, 2003. C.D. went on to marry Jo Perkins on February 28, 2006 in Lawton, Oklahoma. C.D. worked for Halliburton as a Machinist for over 33 years. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, the Duncan Fishing Club, the amateur radio operator club and the VFW. C.D. enjoyed fishing, operating his ham radio, shooting guns, reading the newspaper, riding his motorcycle listening to music and loved his family. C.D. was very loving especially to his family he was a good Christian, and a fine southern gentleman.
C.D. is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 11 years Jo White of the home; his sons, Jimmy Dale White and his wife Shirley of Duncan, Lonnie Courtright and his wife Linda of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Stella Sellers and her husband Doug of Duncan; his grandchildren, Kristi Yates, Justin White, Jeremy Lewis, Kent Sellers, Mae Holt, Angie Elliott, Sonia Tewell, Eric Coutright, Holly Courtright; great grandchildren, Jackson White, Faith Ann Lewis, Seth Holt, Alexa Holt, Shay Hebert, Kelsey Stewart, Kennedy Stewart, Brennan Bishop, Katie Elliott, Carson Tewell, Kennedy Tewell, Andrew Courtright, Ally Courtright, Vanessa Tolbert, Isacc Michael, Kaden Robinson, and Braylee Robinson; great great granddaughter, Harper Hebert. C.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Carroll White, daughter, Pamela "Pam" Jean Lewis; Great grandson, Harrison Ely White, and his parents. Pallbearers for the service will be Eric Courtright, Doug Sellers, Alan Wooten, Harold Treece, Billy Yates and Kent Sellers. Condolences may be left to the family online at: www.granthamfuneralhomes.com
