Darla Anderson, 59, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, in Oklahoma City. She was born on Nov. 14, 1957, to Delbert and Arlene (Wright) DeShong in Duncan.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Whitt Funeral Home, Duncan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at New Hope Baptist Church West in Duncan with the Rev. Billy Morgan and the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Darla graduated from Duncan High School in 1976 where she was on the Drill Team, "The Sparkler's." She married Pat Anderson on Nov. 21, 1985, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was employed by the City of Duncan as a meter reader and by PSO as a cashier for 15 years. Later, she moved into the banking field, serving as a teller at First Bank & Trust for 15 years and then at BancFirst for 2+ years.
She was an avid OU football, Thunder and the Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed watching her horses run at the racetrack and decorating her Christmas tree. She loved watching "Wheel of Fortune" and playing "Candy Crush". But her prized possession was her family and especially her grandchildren upon whom she poured out her love.
Darla is survived by her husband, Pat; her children, Cortney and husband Tim Griffith of Marlow, and Casey and wife Carissa Anderson of Duncan; her grandchildren, Marlee Raye Holt, Cole Michael Anderson and Cailyn Lois Anderson of Duncan, and Zackery Izaak Griffith and Kymrie Elizabeth Griffith of Marlow; and "adopted" children, Nick Bruehl and Addie Beavers of Duncan. Pat and Darla were also God parents to L.L. Humphreys III and Rebecca Humphreys.
She was preceded in death by her father, Delbert Ray DeShong; her brother, Randy Allen DeShong; her mother-in-law, Lois Anderson; and her grandparents, Walter and Lorene Wright.
