Effie Joan Strawn, 82, of Comanche, OK passed away Thursday Oct. 25, 2018 in Duncan, OK.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Monday Oct. 29, 2018 at Western Heights Baptist Church, Duncan, with the Rev. Jerry Couch and the Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.

The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Sunday, Oct. 28 from 1:30 to 3:30pm

Effie Joan Woody was born May 24, 1936 in Duncan to Etta (Davis) and Carl Woody. She married Bill Eugene Strawn on June 20, 1953 in Duncan.

Joan taught Sunday school for over 50 years at Fair Baptist Church and Western Heights Baptist Church. She owned a ceramic shop for 17 years in Duncan. Joan enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, working puzzles and traveling. She and Bill have driven through 49 states and Canada. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Bill Strawn, of the home; children: Kathy and Pagon Ballard and Peggy Strawn; grandchildren: Sarah and Robert Vazquez, Diane and Howard Boss and Morgan Strawn; great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Emily Boss and Robby Vazquez; her brother and sisters, Weldon and Reba Woody; Charlene Woody, Patsy Koch and Faye Bauch.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Etta and Carl Woody; a son, Billy Strawn Jr; a sister, Irene Woody; brothers: Leroy Woody and Ronney Koch; and a nephew, Eric Woody.
