Elizabeth "Beth"'s Story
Elizabeth "Beth" Mae Morris, age 89, of Comanche, peacefully passed away early Tuesday morning, April 18, 2017, in Duncan. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 21 at 10 a.m. at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday 9 a.m. 6 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m.
Beth was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Comanche, to George R. and Violet (Lawson) Absher. She and Bill Morris were united in marriage on November 13, 1942 in Oklahoma City. They were married for over 68 years, until Bill's death in 2011. She worked for many years as a nurse at the Comanche Hospital. She was a charter member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. Beth loved to cook, write stories and poetry, and she dearly loved her church and church family. She loved her dog, "Sarge", they had many years of enjoyment with him. Her greatest pleasure was being able to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Billy Keith Morris and wife Rachel, Comanche; LaVonna Williams, Edmond, Oklahoma; Terry Glenn Morris and wife Libby, Norman, Oklahoma; Melissa Gayle Allin and husband Mark, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Jill Elizabeth Black, Lubbock, Texas; one sister, George Ann Brock and husband Frank, Muldrow, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and dear friends.
Beth was preceded in death by her husband Bill; one grandson, Zack Williams; a sister, Delores Turner, and a brother, James Absher.
