Former Duncan, Oklahoma resident Elizabeth Pickrell, 100, passed away July 5, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Church, Duncan, with Father Peter Jandaczek officiating. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery.
Elizabeth was born April 4, 1917, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Pearl Aloysius Little and Lillie Ann Kansada McClellan. She was the 7th of 8 children. In 1918 her family moved to Chickasha. She was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women in 1938. Elizabeth married Carl Eldon Pickrell on July 2, 1939 in Chickasha before moving to Duncan in 1941. She and Eldon owned and operated Duncan Seed & Grain for many years.
Elizabeth and Eldon were members of Assumption Catholic Church. The way she lived her life was a shining example of a true Christian woman.
She was a big proponent of continued education. She loved reading, art, music, sewing, and could always be caught in the kitchen cooking for her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Pickrell, her parents,siblings and an infant son Carl.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Ruth Rempe of Chickasha, and son, David Pickrell of Chandler, Arizona. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren and many other family members.
