Ernestine's Story

Ernestine Harvill, 95, of Duncan, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in Duncan.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Duncan, with Pastor Ron Meador officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.
The family will visit with friends prior to the service at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Ernestine was born June 17, 1921, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Bessie Lee and Ernest Lee Hokit. She married J.T. Harvill on May 7, 1940 in Comanche. Ernestine was a beautician for 25 years.
She was a member of Rose Unit of Duncan Garden Club and served as President of the Garden Club Council. Ernestine was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching and serving in her church.
She especially enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Perdue and husband Jim of Bossier City, Louisiana; four grandchildren: Jennifer Sexton and husband Patrick, Jay T. Harvill and wife Charity, Elizabeth McSpadden and husband Mark and Emily Harvill; and four great-grandchildren, Reed, Katy, Braden and Landry; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Ernest Hokit; two sisters, Dora Jackson and Fredna Wells; her husband, J.T. Harvill; and her son, Larry Harvill.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Duncan Assisted living for caring and loving Ernestine for the past eight years, Immanuel Baptist church members who have continued to love and visit with Ernestine after she could not attend her beloved church, Duncan Regional Hospital staff and Chisholm Trail Hospice, and Don Grantham Funeral Home. Words cannot express our gratitude to the many family and friends who called and visited Mom in her last days. The family thanks you with all of our heart.
