Esther Thatcher Pearcy, a longtime resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away Monday evening, Sept. 4, 2017 at her home east of town. She was 88 years old. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 8th at 2:00 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dee Bowen officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00-6:30.
Esther was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Ringling, OK to Albert C. and Gertrude (Troxell) Willis. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Esther came to Comanche in 1962 and had made this community her home. She loved playing card, especially Rummy, and she didn't like to lose! She loved to go dancing. Esther also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed riding horses, and was a member of the Burkburnett Riding Club. She had a special place in her heart for her pets, including her dogs Okie and DeDe. She married Ray Thatcher on May 16, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1987. Esther later married Luke Pearcy on April 16, 1990. He passed away in 2013.
Survivors include three daughters: Judy Scott, Wichita Falls, TX; Norma Cullar, Comanche; and Sharon Cain, Comanche. Nine grandchildren: Ray Green and wife Lisa; Perry Green and wife Tammy; Michael Green and wife Alecia; Jean Wall and husband Charlie; Sharon Rounds and husband Glen; Karren Manley; Trisha Matlock and husband Billy; Cortnie Siess and husband Chuck; and Jacobi Harper and husband Dixon; also twenty great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. Esther is also survived by a very special and dear friend, Alice "Ali" Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Gertrude; her husbands, Ray Thatcher and Luther Pearcy; one great grandson, and numerous brothers and sisters.
