Graveside service for F. Howard Nunley, 93, of Sterling, Oklahoma, will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Sterling Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Orf, officiating. Arrangements will be under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Nunley passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, in Marlow, Oklahoma, at the age of 93.
Francis Howard Nunley was born Aug. 26, 1923, in the Central High Community to Hunter Sr. and Florence (Johnson) Nunley. He grew up in Central High where he attended school and was a member of the Denton Baptist Church for over 70 years. He married Leona Marie Bentley on Oct. 18, 1941. The two were married for 51 years when she passed away in 1992. Howard was a jack of all trades and had many various jobs but most of his life was spent farming. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, playing dominos, coon hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Ardelia Mansel, of Sterling and Joyce Muncy and her husband Rick, of Marlow; two sons, Ervin Nunley and his wife Pat, of Waurika and Ernest Nunley and his wife Betty, of Sterling; one brother, Hunter Nunley Jr.; one sister, Gertrude "Tootsie" Pearson; 10 grandchildren: Michael, Travis, Lonnie, Tisha, Jason, Chad, Erick, Danny, Dallas, and Darrell; 22 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Hunter Sr. and Florence Nunley; his wife, Leona Nunley; 1 brother, Ray Nunley; and 1 son-in-law, Roy Mansel.
