Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. David Standifer and Kenny Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Frank was born Saturday, June 18, 1949 in Marlow to Glen C. and Dorothy J. (Stamper) Kovar. He attended school in Marlow and graduated from Marlow High School. Following graduation, he attended OSU in Stillwater. He married his loving wife, Patricia Lynn Whaley, on Feb. 26, 1968 in Wheeler, Texas. The couple made their home on Kovar Hill where he was raised just east of Marlow.
Frank was employed as a Power Line Contractor for over 40 years and was well known for his quality work and strong work ethic. He spent most of his career with Electrical Line Services (ELS), becoming a co-owner with Linda Chrisman before they both retired in 2014. The power line industry community is very close knit and he considered them his extended family.
Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. Frank loved working with cattle on his farm, spending time with his beautiful granddaughters, spending mornings and visiting with the Coffee Shop Crew, and telling stories and showing pictures of his granddaughters to anyone he could.
Survivors include, wife, Pat Lynn Kovar of Marlow; son, Glenn Kovar and wife Cheryl of Bray; and daughter, Karen Ellis and husband Tony of Oklahoma City. He was also survived by five grandchildren, Morgan and Sydney Kovar, and Hannah, Abby and Amanda Ellis. Also, his sister, Elfreda Mirike and husband Jimmy of Marlow; In-laws, John and Lawanda Patterson of Marlow; Donnie and Linda Keck of Marlow; Carolyn Owens of Arcadia; James and Donna Whaley of Duncan; and Bob and Gayle Whaley of Marlow. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who he loved.
He was preceded by his parents, Glen and Dorothy Kovar, his parents in law, Jim and Merline Whaley, and brother in law Don Owens.
