Frederick's Story

Frederick Mack Glasscock, 83, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away Monday, October 1, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Janice Sharp and Rev. Kathy Gibson officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Family Center. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Mack was born on January 13, 1934 in Blythville, Arkansas and raised in Hayti, Missouri. As a child, he often talked of his fond memories working in his father's hardware store and summers spent at his grandmother's farm outside of Duncan.
He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Mines with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering (Petroleum Geology Option). Afterward he honored his ROTC commitment with the US Army Corp of Engineers as 1st Lieutenant. He started at Halliburton Services in 1957 in Farmington, New Mexico.
There he met his future wife, Eleanor Jae Douthitt and they were married in 1959. During his 36 year career with Halliburton Services, he rose from Pump Truck driver, to Field Engineer, District Engineer, District Superintendent, Assistant Division Manager, Division Manager, to Vice President of Marketing taking him and his family from New Mexico, to Texas, Kansas, Colorado, California and finally to Duncan, Oklahoma where he retired. He served at the United Methodist Church, Rotary, and with his sons, a leader in Boy Scouts and the 4-H Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, visiting family and volunteering his time at the church.
He is survived by his wife, whom he was married to for 58 years; two sons, Jay and Mike; seven grandchildren Brittany, Devon, Sydney, Matt, Julia, Dan, Elisabeth; and five great-grandchildren, Shane, Avery, Sirius, Adeline, and Jamison. He was a wonderful husband, father, teacher, and leader.
