George Olen Johnston, 92, longtime resident of Comanche, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at the Norman Veterans Center, Norman, Oklahoma.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan, Oklahoma with burial to follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche.
The family will visit with friends Sunday at the funeral home from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
George was born March 15, 1924, at Comanche, Oklahoma, to John A. and Sarah (Brown) Johnston. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He married Dorothy Beatrice Bell on April 3, 1946, and she preceded him in death on July 5, 1997. He was a retired pipefitter and farmer/rancher in the Comanche area.
George is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sue and David Hill; his granddaughter, Lori and husband Joe Landin; a grandson, Michael Hill; four great-grandsons, Tyler Turner, Joel Landin, Christopher Landin, Braxton Hill and two great-granddaughters, Caitlin Landin and Harper Hill.
George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Johnston; his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Johnston; brothers, Erman, Oscar, Audie, Talmas and Johnny Johnston; and sisters, Ruth Gilger and Vernice Murphy.
Pallbearers will be Ted Paul Johnston, Mike Johnston, Rick Gilger, Mac Gilger, Lynn Lawson and Greg Morgan. Honorary Bearers are Jackie Don Smith and Jackie Morgan.
