Glenda Ruth Willmon Glenda Ruth (Calvery) Willmon, 83 of Duncan, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Elk Crossing in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Glenda was born February 4, 1935 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Glenn and Ruth Calvery. Three years later their eldest daughter Margaret Gayle was killed in a tragic car accident at the age of 5. Her death brought the family closer in their sorrow and ultimately strengthened their faith in God. They moved often following Glenn in search of available jobs during the Great Depression and World War ll, living by south Texas oil fields, in Corpus Christi, Texas and Fox, Oklahoma, eventually settling in Duncan. After attending many different schools over the years, Glenda graduated from Duncan High School in 1953.

She met her future husband Ronald Dean Willmon "dragging" Main Street two years prior, and they married on June 1, 1953 at Immanuel Baptist Church. He was soon drafted and Glenda moved to Ft. Bliss to be near him. Their firstborn child, Ronda Ruth, was premature and sadly didn't survive. The year following their loss, Glenda gave birth to daughter Margaret Gayle at a military hospital in El Paso, Texas. After Ronald's service they returned to Duncan where son Gary was born.

Glenda was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school. She participated in women's missionary activities at WMU. Her hobbies included genealogy, gardening, arts and crafting. She enjoyed camping, road trips, and spending time with family. Glenda was a people person, always there for others. She helped raise nieces and nephews in addition to her own children, she was a relentless caregiver to close family members for decades.

During her last years the tables turned as she battled multiple health issues. She remained smiling through adversities and continued befriending her caregivers and fellow patients. When describing Glenda, people would constantly mention her kind, loving nature. She was forgiving, never judging and always inclusive of others. She was courageous in the face of death, keeping her faith in God until the very end.

Glenda is survived by sisters; Gloria Owens and her husband James, Clivanna Miller and husband Stacy, and brother; Kirtes Calvery and his wife Billie, her children; Gayle Wharton and her husband Roy, and Gary Willmon and his wife Sofia, grandchildren; Roy D. Wharton and Vivian Willmon, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years; Ronald Dean Willmon, daughter; Ronda Ruth Willmon, her parents; Glenn & Ruth Calvery, and a sister; Margaret Gayle Calvery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Glenda was such a sweet and caring woman. She was always thinking about others instead of herself, an example to us all. We feel blessed to have known her.
