Howard Blair Doerr, 91, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Elk Crossing with his daughter by his side.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, March 2nd at Assumption Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M. A second memorial service will be held later this year near Seattle, Washington where all his salmon were caught. His inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, in Kent, Washington.
Howard Blair Doerr was born on October 11, 1926 to Ray and Loretta Doerr in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the United States Army upon graduation from high school. Dad served in the Philippines until the end of World War II in 1945. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He married Pearl (Sue) Zastrow. After retiring from General Dynamic Electric Boat in Connecticut he and Sue moved to California. After Sue's passing Howard moved to Arizona. In 2012 he moved to Duncan to live with his daughter.
Survivors include his five children; Janet Deeg and her husband Wolfgang, David Doerr and his wife Molly, Barbara Tusia, Susan Doerr, William Doerr and his wife Alice, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother Ray Doerr and his wife Gloria and his sister Susie and her husband Bob Winstel.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elk Crossing for their loving care they gave to Dad since he moved there in July of 2016.
