James Heinz Brown, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away January 4, 2019, at the age of 79. He was born September 5, 1939, in Stettin Berlin, Germany, to Willie Edgar & Lotte E. (Nauck) Brown. James and his family attended Lawton Heights United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming and he took pride in his work on the farm. He also enjoyed carpentry work and fishing. James was a fan of the University of Oklahoma as well as Texas A & M, because that's where his grandchildren attended and graduated. He enjoyed watching westerns, game shows and Elvis Presley movies. James heard his country's call and proudly served in the United States Army for 20 plus years where he received the national Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Driver Badge, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palms Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award. In 1980, James retired from the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so. James had a great sense of humor and always liked a good joke. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather to his family. James enjoyed listening to country western music, German music, and he also enjoyed photography. James is survived by 1 son, James D. Brown & life partner, Jerry Knight, of Grand Prairie, Texas; 2 daughters, Evelyn (Brown-Shook) Harris & husband, Larry, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Patricia (Brown) Jasper, of Lewisville, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Paul Shook, Mark Shook & wife, Jennifer McAllister, and Thomas Scott Jasper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie & Lotte Brown; and his wife, Julie Heimtraud. Family and friend's visitation will be on Wednesday from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services for James will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma, with Pastor Larry Harris officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Fort Sill National Cemetery, in Elgin, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, Oklahoma.
