Text size

Corporal Jayce Samuel Hefner, 30, of Duncan, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, in the First Baptist Church Auditorium with the Rev. Ray Ledbetter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of  Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jayce was born Jan. 29, 1986, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Jamie (Robnett) Hefner and James Hefner both of  Duncan.  He graduated from Duncan High School in 2004.  He loved sports, especially baseball.  He was honored as Baseball All-Area Pitcher of the Year 2003-2004.  He attended two years of college at Cameron University and worked at Valco Manufacturing making aerodynamic parts and Halliburton Manufacturing Center as a machinist before joining the Marines in January of 2008.  He was enlisted in the HMLA/T 303 Squadron at Camp Pendleton, California where he worked on hydraulics and airframes on aircraft including Hueys and Cobras as an Aviation Mechanic.
In 2011, he was named Marine of the Year for his platoon two days after being pinned Corporal by Merit, an honor by his commanding officers for his high standard of performance, attitude and self presence.  Only 3 percent of Marines are promoted by Merit. Jayce excelled in the Marines as a leader, mentor and friend to his fellow Marines.  Semper Fi!
Jayce returned to Duncan in 2013 after a knee injury.  He worked in the oilfield and for Wilco Manufacturing until the layoff in 2015. He was devoted to helping and caring for his grandparents and mother and was in the process of enrolling at Cameron University in Lawton.
Jayce was a blessing to his family, dearly loved by his friends, fellow Marines and everyone whose life he touched.  He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his mother Jamie (Robnett) Hefner of Duncan, father James Hefner of Duncan.  His grandparents; James E. and Amy Jo Robnett (Nana & Papa) and Ruth Hefner Cary all of Duncan.  Niece Kayli Hefner (who he absolutely adored) and nephew Brody Arbuckle of Blanchard, OK.  Auntie Pam Reid and husband Mike of Duncan, aunt Laura Bryce of Duncan, cousins Michelle Reid of Duncan, Eddie Reid and wife Frankie of Duncan, Matthew Jones and wife Jennifer of Coweeta, OK, Cale Jones and wife Lindsey of Duncan, Tara Jackson and husband Larry of San Antonio, TX and Nikki Reid of Duncan, God Daughter Ava Raska of Valatie, NY and numerous extended family, friends and his inseperable little daschund, Charlotte.
