Jeanette (Jan) Noyes Smith, age 65, of Comanche, peacefully passed away early Sunday morning, April 21, 2019 at her home east of Comanche. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at 2:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Jan was born May 26, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas to Houston and Jeanne Evans. She attended and graduated from Uvalde High School, and attended Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas. On December 30, 1971 she and JP Smith were united in marriage. She was born on a ranch and loved the ranching life. She rode horses and worked cattle from early on in life. She enjoyed growing up with her brothers and sisters in South Texas. She met her husband, JP at a rodeo and they were married later. They had three children, Justin, Jody, and Jacy. They build a life around taking care of their family and enjoying each other every day. Years later after the children were grown, Jan opened and operated Chisholm Trail Spirit Horse therapeutic riding center. Jan gave therapy horse riding lessons to children with disabilities and wounded soldiers. She loved helping people and seeing the joy horses brought to other people.

Jan mostly loved spending time loving on her grandchildren and attending their many events. JP and Jan were very proud of their beautiful family.

Survivors include her husband JP; three children: Justin Smith and wife Angela and child Jackson Smith, Duncan, OK; Jody Smith and wife Dana and children Kaydence Smith, Ashton Brown and Dalton Brown, Ratliff City, OK; and Jacy Dobbins and husband Nic, and children Brady Dobbins, Cooper Dobbins, and Berkley Dobbins, Comanche, OK; her mother, Jeanne Evans, Uvalde, Texas; sister, Jean Evans, Norman, Oklahoma; niece Haley Greenough and husband Clinton; her father-in-law Alton Smith; sister-in-law, Sandra Smith; nephews Nick Smith; Dee Evans and family; and Cole Evans and family.

Jan was preceded in death by her father, Houston Evans; and two brothers: Dunn Evans and Jim Houston Evans.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Woods, Tooter Waites, Larry Mikel, Bill Bunn Jr, Clinton Greenough, and Matt Roberson. Honorary bearers will be Dee Evans and Cole Evans.

Jeanne I an so very sorry to find out about Jan and Houston. I wish I were closer and able to vist with you. Perhaps the next time I am in Texas we can get together. My door is always open. Georgann 931-205-1010. I will make sure a tree for Jan will be planted in the fall

Our sincere sympathy & condolences for the loss of a special lady. Jan was a dear cousin and friend and very loved. Thinking of everyone at this sorrowful time. Be comforted that Jan rose with Christ on Easter morning. She was of great faith and good will.
