Jerry Dewayne "Beer" Jones, a resident of Comanche, passed away Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be Friday, June 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Ray of Hope Church, with Pastor Mike McCord officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Jerry was born April 9, 1943 to Herman H. and Emma (Fowler) Jones. He was the eighth of nine children. Jerry was a lifelong Comanchean, and while his work took him all over the United States he always returned to Comanche, the only place he ever called "home".
Jerry attended Comanche Schools and was in the Class of 1961. He met his best friend, Teresa Ann Ward in June of 1964, and on October 1, 1964 he made her his wife. They were happily married for 53 years, and were blessed with three children. Jerry became a member of Local #344 United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the U.S. and Canada on September 3, 1970, where he worked until his retirement.
Jerry enjoyed following all of his grandchildren's activities, fishing, hunting, and cheering on the Comanche Indians, Oklahoma Sooners, and Dallas Cowboys. In his later years Jerry and Teresa loved picking up pecans.
Survivors include his wife Teresa, of the home; his daughter Dana and husband Tom, Huron, SD; his son Darren and wife Wenona, Guthrie, OK; and daughter Denise and husband Dave, Foster, OK; six grandchildren: Megan Kostel and Clay Kostel, Huron, SD; Briley Jones, Cache, OK; Madalyn Jones, Guthrie, OK; Allison Cain and Adin Cain, Comanche, OK; one brother, Gene Jones, Duncan, OK and one sister, Shirley Wade, Duncan, OK; many special nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends of all ages.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ruthie Dunlap,and Mildred "June" Johnson; and his brothers, Preston Jones, Phillip Jones, Charles Jones, and Lanny Jones.
