Jerry Lynn Stroud, of Duncan, peacefully passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2017, at his home. He was 70 years old. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with full military honors provided by the Stephens County Combined Honor Guard will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will be Monday at 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. until service time. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6-7 p.m.
Jerry was born June 29, 1946, in Duncan, to Verney and Naomi (Seely) Stroud. He was a 1964 graduate of Comanche High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, which included time in Viet Nam. Jerry married Nancy Tibbetts on Aug. 23, 1969 in Moore, OK. She preceded him in death in 2004. He was a lifelong resident of Stephens County, living in Comanche and Duncan. Jerry enjoyed fishing, and watching and cheering for both the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He loved his dogs, Tiger and Foxy, who were always by his side. Jerry was very proud of to be a Veteran of the United States Army. He had recently made a trip to Washington D.C. Jerry was a member of the Meridian School Classmates, and also the Comanche High School Class of 64 Alumni Group.
Survivors include his two daughters: Tracie Spangler and husband Jeff, Yukon, OK; and Michelle Lewis and husband Mikal, Rush Springs, OK; one sister, Shirley Forsythe and husband Richard, Comanche, OK; and one brother-in-law, Dale Landers, Duncan, OK; five grandchildren: Lacie Metts, Shaylan Woods, Miah Metts, Thomas Lewis, and Billie Lewis; also two great-grandchildren: Samson Woods and Sailor Woods. Also, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Nancy; his parents, Verney and Naomi; and one sister, Geneva Landers.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Spangler, Mikal Lewis, Logan Woods, Kim Huckriede, and Tyler Tritt.
