Joe's Story

Joe Robert Davis, 84, of Crescent, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 in Oklahoma City.
He was born March 11, 1933 to Joe Boyd and Mary Lucille (Brooks) Davis in Sulphur, Oklahoma.
Joe grew up in Asher, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Asher High School. He lived in Asher, Midwest City, and Choctaw for a period of time and was a resident of Crescent, Oklahoma.
Joe married Gearldean McCuistion in September, 1989.
He was an Industrial Engineer at Tinker Air Force Base for 37 years and retired on Jan. 2, 1988.
Joe was always heavily involved with his kids' activities while they were growing up, especially their FFA events and sporting events, never missing a ballgame. He loved baseball and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed camping, traveling, going to the lake, going to garage sales with his mother-in-law, and hosting Christmas gatherings. Joe loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them, especially going out to eat with sisters and brothers-in-law and especially spending time with his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Sue Davis; sister, Jamie Sue Holbert; and mother-in-law, Ruth Matthews.
Joe is survived by his wife, Gearldean Davis of the home; daughter, Kay Davis-Bray of Tuttle, Oklahoma; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dr. Gerald and Glenda Davis of Duncan, OK and Randy and Donna Davis of Decatur, AR; stepson, Gary and Dena McCuistion of Fulshear, Texas; seven grandchildren, Teryn and Tamra Bray of Royal Oak, MI, Kalyn Bray of Mustang, OK, Dr. Gerrad and Abby Davis of Duncan, OK, Geoffrey Davis of Norman, OK, Greg Davis of Norman, OK, Jessica and Ben Townsend of Springdale, AR, and Rebecka and Arron Roberts of Little Rock, AR; step-grandchildren, Dustin and Caroline McCuistion of Austin, TX, and Darcie and Matt Breazeale of Katy, TX; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn and Dewey Goodin and Jarita and Delbert Goodin; sister-in-law, Carolyn Matthews; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has designated St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 as appropriate for memorials in memory of Joe Davis.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 and from 8 a.m. until service time on Friday. Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
