Jonna's Story

Text size

Jonna Lois (Love) Wilson, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, nurse, and friend took her heavenly flight on December 16, 2017. She was born on March 1, 1941 in Duncan, Oklahoma and spent the majority of her life in Stephens County. She was a woman of strength, courage, and faith who raised her five children with love and a passion for life. She had an empathy toward people that could only be rooted in a relationship with Christ. She would often say, "Don't criticize a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes." Don't you wish we would all embrace that motto in our lives.  Jonna was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had a calling for the care of the elderly in geriatric nursing. She was a protector of the weak and a defender of the down trodden. She will be missed, but we have the assurance we will see her again. "O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?" Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."
Jonna is survived by her daughters, Regina and Ron Dusterhoft of Katy, TX, Rene' Scifres and Robert Kengle of Pflugerville, TX, Shanda Scifres of Plano, TX; her sons, Darrell and Kim Weaver of Moore, OK, and Keith Scifres of Grand Praire, TX; grandchildren, Nicole and Mark Englishbee, Ross Dusterhoft, Evan Dusterhoft, Justin and Melissa Scifres, Jonathan Scifres, Madison Weaver, Asa Weaver, Lauren Hennan, and Ainsleigh Hennan; great-grandchildren, Ellie Englishbee, Sadie Englishbee, Fiona Scifres; sister, Pat and Wayne Allen of Moore, OK and brother, Steve Fontinott of Granite, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wilson, ex-husband and friend, Walter Scifres; mother, Letha Lois (Corbin) Fontinott; father, Tom Love; step-father, Judge Fontinott; brothers, Billy Darrell Love and Ronnie Dale Love; granddaughter, Ashley JorDan Weaver, and great-grandson Jaxson Kolt Scifres.
A viewing will be held at the Comanche Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. The celebration service will be at the Ray of Hope Church in Comanche, OK on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike McCord officiating. Burial will be at the Comanche Fairlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ron Dusterhoft, Mark Englishbee, Justin Scifres, Ross Dusterhoft, Evan Dusterhoft, and Asa Weaver.
We would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Oakmont Healthcare Center of Katy and Hospice with Grace.
Jonna loved Christmas so we ask for attendees to wear red or Christmas attire to join in her Christmas homecoming.
To our Mother :
If I were granted one wish today, and I knew it would come true; I'd ask the Lord for a little time, to spend alone with you.
To hear your voice like it used to be, so bold, so joyful, so clear; That voice which has been silenced, during these last few years.
To hear you sing those old-time hymns, that speak of Jesus' love; and have you read the Bible, with a message from above.
I know my wish will not come true, and that is all right too; For I treasure all my memories, of the mother I once knew.
So I thank God for keeping you safe, and welcoming you into His arms; I have peace knowing God's promise that one day soon, I'll hold your hand again.
