Juanita Mitchell Dewey, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Littleton, Colorado, at the age of 91 years.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Allert of Christ Lutheran Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, officiating.
Juanita was born on Nov. 25, 1925, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Willie Burt "Cotton" and Alice Jones Mitchell. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1944, and attended Oklahoma A & M. On Dec. 18, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Dewey. She worked alongside Bill in the family business, Dewey's Home Furnishings, for over 40 years. A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Duncan, she taught Sunday School and was a member of the women's circle.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, W. B. and Alice Mitchell; three sisters, Billie Dillon, Imogene Dove, and Lela Hatch; and two brothers, Donald Ray Mitchell and Pat Mitchell.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra Lytle and husband Lynn of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two grandsons, Pat Lytle and wife Sarah, and Andy Lytle and wife Jessica, both of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; six great-grandchildren, Emma Lytle, Sophie Lytle, Claire Lytle, Cooper Lytle, Austin Lytle, and Taylor Lytle, all of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two brothers; Robert Mitchell and wife Charlene of Puyallup, Washington, and Bob "Hershell" Mitchell and wife Harriet of Duncan, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Lela Hayes and husband Jerry of Marlow, Oklahoma; and many special nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
