L.L. 'Buck''s Story
L.L. "Buck" Williams, 83, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with Leonard Keele officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 23 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Buck was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Roy Lee and Carmen (Jones) Williams.
He married Kathleen Henley on June 20, 1986, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death on Sept. 18, 2015.
He was a longtime member of the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ and enjoyed his work at the Compassion Center. He was an honorary and first male member of Gleaners OHCE.
He was a retired from Halliburton Services with over 40 years of service starting as a sweeper in the shop and working up to machinist then planner and scheduler.
Buck was known to many as a gentle soul, with a quick wit and competitive nature especially when it came to card games and dominos - when it came to chicken foot and checkers no grandchild was spared. Buck loved is family and leaves behind many memories of vacations at Lake Tenkiller, cooking Thanksgiving Dinner on the grill and supporting work for the church.
Buck is survived by children, Rita Williams, of Houston, Texas, Teri Williams Ashworth and husband Bill, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jon Scott Carlile, of Noble, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Parker Elizabeth Ashworth and Evan Gray Williams Ashworth, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Michael David Carlile and Austin Dakota Carlile of Duncan, Oklahoma.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Carmen Williams; and a son, Brian Craig Carlile.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Sawyer, Joe Freeman, and grandchildren Parker Ashworth, Evan Ashworth, Michael Carlile, and Austin Carlile.
Honorary pallbearer is Jan Fielding, his right hand at the Compassion Center.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, the Companion Hospice of Oklahoma, or the American Cancer Society.
