Funeral service for SFC (Retired) Larry Wayne Shorter will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Lawton First Assembly with Rev. Don Barnes, Senior Pastor and Rev. David Hubbard, Associate Pastor officiating.
Burial with Full Military Honors will be in the Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
Larry Wayne Shorter, 70, Lawton passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 in Wichita Falls, TX. He was born August 15, 1947 in Duncan to Wayne Kenneth and Billie Thelma (Lowder) Shorter. He married Elizabeth Robinson on October 4, 1969 in Vernon, TX. He retired from the US Army in 1992 at Fort Sill. He was a veteran of Vietnam and earned numerous awards and achievements during his Army career. After his retirement from the Army he worked for the State of Oklahoma with Workforce-Oklahoma assisting and helping veterans. He retired from there in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and his sons, loved golfing and OU Sooner football, and especially enjoyed the time spent with family, and going on trips with his grandsons to Branson. Larry will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of the home, 2 sons, SFC Jonathan Wayne Shorter of Fort Drum, NY, Nathan Wayne Shorter and wife Amber of Lawton, 2 grandsons, Adain Wayne Shorter and Ethan DeWayne Shorter, his sister Patt Conway of Lawton, brother Gerald Shorter and wife Yolanda of Lawton, a special lady whom he considered his daughter, Nicole Ray of Lewisville, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
