Leland (L.D.)'s Story
Leland Dwayne (L.D.) Smith, of Comanche, Oklahoma died November 4th, 2017; from complications with his health after several hospital visits concerning his heart. He was 77 years old.
He was the only child of Ernest and Bertha Clampitt Smith born in Duncan, October 17, 1940. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jolena Bowman Smith, and their children, son Curtis Smith of Fort Worth, TX; son David and Mona Smith of Kennedale, TX; daughter Cheryl Smith Allovio of Arlington, TX and their three grandchildren Andrew Smith, Madelyn Allovio, and Camille Smith.
He graduated from Comanche High School, May 1958. He served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1961. He retired from Halliburton Services Manufacturing Center after 33 years. He owned and operated L.D. Smith AC and Heating of the Duncan area. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones and extended family and friends. He got pleasure from traveling, camping and cruising.
Services will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church West, 200 S 42nd St. Duncan. Brother Randy Southerland will officiate. The family will be receiving friends on Friday evening, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be at Fairlawn in Comanche. In lieu of flowers the family encourages you to donate to New Hope Baptist Church West or support the charity of your choice.
