Loyd's Story

Loyd Edward Bowden passed away on Thursday, September 14, at the age of 69. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on November 26, 1947, to Troy E. and Birdie Minnie (Jennings) Bowden.
Family visitation will be on Monday, September 18, from 5:30-7:30P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 19, at 2:00P.M. at the Harvest Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Moore officiating and Bro. Jerry Don Moore assisting. Interment will be in the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Loyd graduated from Duncan High School in 1966. He then joined the US Army. He married Barbara Carolyn Geisler on March 11, 1978, in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas. They had two sons, Billy Geisler and James Edward Bowden.
He opened his own business, Bowden Siding & Home Improvement in 1984. He also owned B&L Golf Shop. Prior to 1984, he worked for Arkla Gas and PSO.
Loyd enjoyed playing golf. He also enjoyed attending church. He was Head Trustee at Harvest Hills Baptist Church. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandkids.?He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara; his sons, Billy Geisler and James Edward Bowden his wife, Deanna; his grandchildren, Erika Geisler and Justin Bowden; his great-grandson, Colton Yarbrough; his brother, Bobby Bowden and his wife, Linda; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Bowden and JoAnn Bowden; "special" grandchildren, Chris and Tarah Robinson and their children, Hallie and Tenley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. ?He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sister-in-law, W.T. and Jo Bowden, Dewey Bowden, Jim Bowden, and Jerry Bowden; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and George Barrick and Helen and Randall Presgrove.
Memorial contributions may be made in Loyd's name to the Harvest Hills Baptist Church.
