LV Williams, a long-time resident of the Comanche area passed away on Saturday, February 10th after 99 years 3 months and 20 days on this earth.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14th at the Comanche First Baptist Church with Rev. Eli Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Comanche Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends at the funeral home will be on Tuesday, February 13th, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
LV was born on October 21, 1918 in Wise County to John Wesley and Myrtle Elizabeth (Shaw) Williams. As a small child his family moved to the Comanche area where he lived for the rest of his life. He worked 38-1/2 years on the Rock Island Railroad retiring in 1979. On November 16, 1940 he married Verlon Best, who preceded him in death after 63 years of marriage.
LV was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesly and Myrtly Elizabeth Williams; brothers: Marshall Williams, J.B. Williams, A.C. Williams, Jimmy Williams, Donnie Williams and William Franklin Williams.
Survivors include his sister, Genive Gallaher, of Duncan; three children: Joann & Robert White of Comanche, Barbara Coates of Columbia, LA and Ron & Marjorie Williams of Justin, TX. Eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Robert White, Michael White, Gary Williams, Landry Coates, Mike Torres and Pierre Montclair.
