Marcus McDowell Jackson was born on April 15, 1982 and departed this life on June 3, 2017. Marcus loved music, writing, and family. Good at most anything he did, he could play guitar, drums, keyboard and any other instrument he picked up. At the time of his passing, the book he was writing, Anything But God, was receiving interest from publishers.
Marcus had a great sense of humor. He could be quick witted with friends and family and also silly and funny, making young nieces and nephews and especially his son laugh and smile. Marcus struggled with addiction but maintained his sweet heart. In his struggles he was still concerned with others, even when their burdens paled in comparison to his own. Marcus always wanted to make sure his mom was okay and help his dad reach his goals.
Marcus' struggle is over and he has found peace with our Lord Jesus and God the Father.
Marcus had worked as a reporter for the Sapulpa Herald newspaper. He wrote several prize winning short stories. Marcus did volunteer work mowing lawns for the elderly. After completing the Teen Challenge Program Marcus wanted to share his love for God with others and help other addicts. He spent months ministering and mentoring to other addicts trying to beat addiction. As his family we could not be more proud of of our sweet, funny, caring, courageous Marcus. It was the honor of our life to love you and be loved by you. You were dearly loved and will be dearly missed. We know are smiling down on us from heaven and we will see you again one day.
Marcus is survived by his pride and joy, his son Malachi; his parents Lon "Mack" Jackson, and Nancy and Ted Bowling; his grandad, Lon T. Jackson Jr.; his sister, Kara Milne; three brothers, Michael Bowling, Aaron Bowling and Jordan Jackson; nine nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. He has joined his grandparents, Ben and Gen Combest, and Mary Ann and Tony Jacklin in heaven.
