Mark Allen Carey Jr., born November 17, 1936 in Lake Charles LA, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his home in Katy Texas, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Mark spent the past few years battling heart disease but lived a full and rewarding life, both personally and professionally. Mark spent a majority of his younger years in the Duncan OK areas and after serving his country in the United States Army through active and reserve duty, he married the love of his life to start a family, went back to college and earned a Business Degree from Central State University and proceeded to grow a long and well respected career in the oil and gas industry. Mark loved showing his three children and grandchildren the world through travel, taking RV road trips with his wife, was an avid gun collector, hunter and fisherman and lived for spending time with family and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Mark Sr. and Juanita Carey. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Stella, Sister Patsy Headrick (of Duncan OK), three children, Susan Carey-Lafley, Mark Carey III and Michael Carey, daughters-in-law Sherri Carey and Angela Carey, grandchildren Tyler Carey, Mason Carey, Emily Lafley, Tessa Lynn Carey and Nathan Carey. Mark also has 2 great-grand children on the way and many more family members he was very fond of.
Memorial service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 9 am, where his ashes will be laid to rest through a military ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate a donation in Mark's honor and name to the American Heart Association of Houston.
