Mary's Story

Mary Kate Bourland was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Albert and Maggie Fuller on October 16th, 1919 and she was called home on January 16th, 2018. She was all that is good in this world. She grew up in Ada and married George W. Bourland on April 2nd, 1938. Making Duncan, Oklahoma their home, they had two daughters Georgia Kay and Susan. She was a homemaker until she took a job with Halliburton Oil Company in 1960, retiring in 1980. She was very active in her church, First Baptist Church Duncan, where she taught the preschool Sunday School class for many years. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved to travel, visiting Europe, Canada, and most of the United States, including Hawaii with her family. She moved to Chandler, Arizona in 2007 to be closer to her family, where she enjoyed many adventures with her five great grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, siblings, daughter Susan Bourland Rasmussen and grandson Lance Rasmussen. She is survived by her daughter, Georgia Kay Wells, her granddaughters, Mary Shannon Wells(J. Grace Ellis) and Meredith Wells Smith(Matthew Smith) And her five beloved great grandsons, Everett and Alden England and Jackson, Wyatt and Cole Smith and her niece Brenda Tirey. She was a ray of sunshine to all that knew her. A celebration of life will take place at Dayspring United Methodist Church, Tempe, Arizona on Saturday, February 3rd at 10:30 am. A service and internment will take place in Duncan in the Spring. Donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Memphis, TN. www.stjude.org
