Mary Frances Williams

September 18, 1919 - August 03, 2018

Mary Frances Williams passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 3, 2018. Frances was born to Claud Lee English and Gertrude Cunningham English in Rush Springs, OK on September 18, 1919 and moved to Marlow with her family as a baby. She graduated from Marlow High School, and worked and took classes at Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City following graduation. She returned to Marlow and married Odell Chester Williams, also of Marlow, on October 1, 1939. They had a daughter, Rosemary, and moved to Duncan in 1940, where her husband worked for Halliburton for his entire career.

Frances loved gardening and making a beautiful home for her family, and was active in state and local garden clubs, serving in many offices through the years. She joined the Redbud unit of Duncan Garden Club in the late 1940s and was Convention Chairman for the South Central District in the late 1950s. She treasured the lifelong friendships she made in Garden Club and still attended gatherings until her death. Spring and summer were her favorite months of the year, and she could often be found outside working in her yard. She loved fresh flowers and garden vegetables, and kept a vegetable garden for years. When asked what helped her live a long life, she said "Friendship, a sky full of sunshine, and the love of family." She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Daughters of the Confederacy. Frances was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Duncan since the 1940s.

Known as Mema to her grandchildren, she relished being a grandmother and showered her grandchildren with love. Her favorite times were with her family, and especially visiting with her grandchildren in the summer.

Frances is survived by her daughter Rosemary Williams Doyle and husband William J. Doyle, her grandson William J. Doyle Jr and wife Kimberly, all of Atlanta, GA, her granddaughter Katherine Doyle, her great grandchildren Brooks Doyle and Claire Doyle, her nephew Gregory Gregston and two grand nephews Bobby Blanton and Bill Blanton. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters Floye Hervey, Ruth Taylor Lee and Billie Jo Gregston. The family would like to thank her caregiver Patti Keck for her years of attentive and loving care.

The visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow on August 10, 2018 at 10:30 am followed by burial at the Marlow Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wallace Whitley, Dr. Robert Weedn, Bill Blanton, Bobby Blanton, Bill Doyle Jr., and Brooks Doyle.
