Maxine Eda Harper, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at the First Baptist Church Chapel, Duncan, with Pastor Bryan Pain officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan City Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Sunday, Nov. 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Maxine was a member of the First Baptist Church of Duncan.
Maxine was born on July 22, 1931, in Corum, Oklahoma, to Raymond Frank and Pearlie Mae Thompson. Maxine grew up five miles north of Corum and attended and graduated from Empire High School.
Maxine married William James Harper on Nov. 23, 1949 in Corum, Oklahoma at the First Baptist Church. Maxine worked at Woolworth Department Store for 23 years before retiring as a personal manager in 1989.
Maxine loved to crochet, make quilts and paint ceramics. She also loved the years in the Philanthropic Tri Delta Club serving as president several times and in other offices.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William J. Harper; her sister, Mildred Roberts; and her brother, Donald Ray Thompson.
She is survived by her two sons,the Rev. Terry James Harper and his wife, Donna, of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Gary Lee Harper and his wife, Kathy, of Duncan, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Donny Ray Harper and his wife Regina, of Velma, Oklahoma; Eric James Harper and his wife Beki, of Chicago, Illinois; Ginni Carrol and the Rev. Derrick Zamora, of Skiatook, Oklahoma; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and a wonderful extended family.
Pallbearers will be Donny Harper, Eric Harper, Shannon Harper, Jaydon Harper, Riley Harper, and Rev. Derrick Zamora.
Memorials donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Falls Creek Children's Fund.
