Michelle "Shelly"'s Story

Michelle "Shelly" Xan Rodgers-Vincent, left us on October 30, 2017, on a journey to a better place promised to us by God. Shelly had recently driven to Memphis, TN where she and her sister Sandy, were attending their seriously ill mother, Nanette Shapiro.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am Saturday November 4, 2017 at the Ray of Hope Church with Pastor Mike McCord officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home, Friday Nov. 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm.
Shelly was born in Duncan, OK on January 14, 1967 to Ricardo "Rick" Rodgers and Nanette Rodgers.
Shelly was happily received as she joined her sister and family. Rick's parents, John and Gladys Rodgers of Norman loved to frequently visit the two granddaughters. Christmas and birthdays were most special.
Shelly graduated from Duncan High School in 1985, having been active on the Tennis team and Westside Church of Christ and their related activities. She attended the University of Oklahoma, later married and had three beautiful children, Travis Velasco, now 28 of San Antonio, TX, Hannah Velasco Engelken, 26 of Houston, TX and Madison Vincent, 13 of Easton, PA.
Shelly was residing in Duncan at the time of her sudden and unexpected death in Memphis. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and taking care of her family. Shelly was a Christian and loved God, her children and life. She read the Bible daily and prayed fervently for her family, others and herself. She and her father frequently discussed Ray of Hope sermons and the Bible.
Moving from Norman she married Peter Velasco and moved to San Antonio, TX. They had Travis and Hannah Velasco. Travis, like his dad loved to hunt and fish. Travis became a professional guide and hunts and guides in South Africa, New Zealand and all over Texas. Hannah, is an avid reader, attended the University of Texas graduating with a business degree in accounting, a Masters degree in Public accounting and is presently a CPA with Ernst and Young. She recently married Seth Engelken and they plan to reside in San Antonio.
Years later Shelly married Derek Vincent, living in Norman where Derek was a technician for the U.S. Postal Service. They were blessed with beautiful Madison.
Survivors include her parents in Duncan are Rick Rodgers and Carolyn Rodgers; her mother, Nanette Shapiro of Memphis, TN; her children, Travis, Hannah and Madison; a sister, Sandy Zorn and husband Eric of Memphis; a niece, Casie Hoeft and her daughters, Isabella and Caroline; nephews, David Zorn, Shean Zorn and Andrew Zorn; two brothers, Rex Corley and Brett Corley, both of Denver, CO;and Rex's son Ezekiel Corley of Seattle, WA and Brett's son Maverick Corley of Denver.
Pallbearers will be: Cliff Wallraven, Duane Paul, Dr. Mike Nelson, Dan Wiley, Kelsey Avants and Art Wheeler.
