Mildred's Story

Mildred June (Jones) Johnson, age 91, of Comanche passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2016, at an Oklahoma City hospital.  A funeral service is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Ray of Hope Church, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday noon to 6 p.m.,  Tuesday  9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to noon.  The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday evening, from 5 to 6 p.m.
June was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Comanche, to Herman H. and Emma (Fowler) Jones. She and Clayton T. Barnes were united in marriage on Jan. 20, 1946, in Duncan. He preceded her in death in 1978. She later married Milton Johnson, and he also preceded her in death. June loved to play the piano and sing. She also loved dancing. She enjoyed traveling, telling stories and reciting poetry. She was a people person, who never met a stranger. 
June is survived by her two daughters, Debra Baldwin and husband Steve, Jones, Oklahoma and Carol Stephens and husband Gary, Meridian, Oklahoma; two brothers, Gene Paul Jones and wife Shirley, Duncan, and Jerry Jones and wife Teresa, Comanche; one sister, Shirley Wade and husband Floyd, Duncan; four grandchildren, David Stephens (Rob) Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Shannon Stephens (John), Thousand Oaks, California, Jennifer Hodges (Jason), Comanche; and Ronnie Richards (Alicia) Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  six great-grandchildren: Mikaila Poage (Jeremy), Tristynn Hannah, Shayson Hodges, Jonathan, Jobey and Julianne Richards; two great-great-grandchildren, Klaire and Wyatt Poage; and many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clayton Barnes and  Milton Johnson; a son, Clayton Dale Barnes; four  brothers, Preston Jones, Phillip Jones, Lanny Jones, and Charles Jones; and one sister, Ruthie Dunlap.
