Nola Sue Beall died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at her home in Duncan, Oklahoma following an extended illness. She was 83 years old. She was a loving wife to her husband of 63 years, Fallis, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.



Funeral services will be at 11:00am Friday, April 13, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Duncan, with the Rev. Matt Meinke officiating. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. A reception will follow at First United Methodist Church, 2300 Country Club Rd.



The family will visit with friends Thursday, April 12 from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.



Sue was born on August 3, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Tulsa. Sue graduated from Tulsa Central High in 1952 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She and Fallis were married December 28, 1954 and moved to Duncan in 1957 when Fallis joined Stokes Transit Mix. Sue, meanwhile, taught in the Empire School System and adult business courses at the Red River Vo-Tech Center, worked at Halliburton and was society editor of the Duncan Banner. She was also the corporate secretary for the family's business. The Beall's purchased Payne Jewelry in 1977 and Sue became a graduate gemologist. They later sold the jewelry store and opened The Registry.



Sue was involved in a number of civic and charitable causes. She was named Woman of the Year by the Duncan Chamber of Commerce in 1977 and served as the Chamber's first woman president in 1983. She co-chaired the community drive fundraiser for the L. B. and Ola Simmons community activities center, participated in Civic Capers, and was a member of PEO Chapter EE and the Hestian Study Club.



She received numerous accolades including the Liberty Bell Award for Citizenship by the Stephens County Bar Association and named Friend of the Foundation by the Duncan Regional Hospital Health Foundation in 2016.



A pillar of the First Presbyterian Church, Sue served in many leadership and women's ministry roles. She co-chaired the United Way of Duncan fundraising campaign, was chairman of the Stephens County Republican Party and was a commissioner of the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Affairs.



An avid OU football fan, she was a regular at all home games as a season ticket holder for over 60 years and traveled to many away and bowl games. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing tennis and bridge as well as spending time with her husband and family at their vacation homes in Florida, Colorado and Hawaii.



Survivors include her husband, Fallis Arch Beall of the home; her son, Robert Stokes Beall and his wife Shelley; her daughter, Leigh Ann Beall Gathright; grandchildren Richard Brent Gathright, Allison Beall Chandler, Logan Robert Beall and Tyrrell Jeffrey Gathright; and great-grandchildren Felicity Belle Chandler, Asa Tyrrell Gathright, Harrison William Chandler and Archer Jackson Gathright.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Weldon Stokes and Richard Elbert Stokes.



Pallbearers will be Brent Gathright, Logan Beall, Tyrrell Gathright, Thomas McCasland, Jr., Henry Bonney, Dwayne Brittain, Dr. Robert Weedn and Thomas Jones, Jr.



In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Duncan, 704 W. Ash Ave, Duncan, Oklahoma 73533 or to the Nola Sue Beall Scholarship at the DRH Health Foundation, P.O. Box 2000, Duncan, Oklahoma 73534
