Norma's Story

Norma Jean Ahlskog returned to be with our Heavenly Father on December 5, 2017. Norma Jean was born to Dora Mel Plott and Lawton Russell on June 6, 1938 in Ventura, California. The middle child of 11 children, Norma lived an exciting life and was well loved as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Army Staff Sergeant. Norma served her Country in The United States Army for 15 years as a surgical tech. While stationed in Germany, in 1978, Norma met the love of her life Richard H. Ahlskog. Richard and Norma were married August 28, 1981 in Las Cruses, NM. Together they traveled and worked around the world, living in Saudi Arabia, Italy, England, and Japan. Norma loved Richard as much as he adored her. Retiring in Duncan, Oklahoma, Richard and Norma spent time visiting with family and friends. Norma is preceded in death by her both parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her loving husband Richard, five children, Carol Marie Parks (husband, Jim), Larry Dean Gardner, William Daryl Gardner, Tari Dawn Hogue (husband, Jack), and Richard Elis Ahlskog; four grandchildren; James C. Parks (wife Amanda), Rebekah C. Guill (husband James), Justin Louis Hogue (wife Chrissy), and Josh Adam Hogue; eight great grandchildren, several cousins, and countless friends. She we be dearly missed but forever in our hearts. Norma will be interned at Fort Sill, Funeral and memorial arrangements to be determined.
