Paul's Story

Paul Whit Moore passed from this life to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 84 years of age at Elk Crossing after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Paul was born July 27, 1933 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Marion and Alice (Kincannon) Moore.
He loved to live life to the fullest with family, friends and fishing where ever he was. Paul grew up in the Empire community where he attended school from 1st thru 12th grade. He graduated in 1951. He played baseball and basketball while attending school and enjoyed playing both as an adult.
Paul married his high school sweetheart, Reba Carol Bryant in December, 1952. They had 3 children together, Gary Paul Moore, Janet Sue (Moore) Goglio and Dr. Jeffery Wayne Moore. Reba preceded him in death in 1995.
Paul worked in the oilfield after he graduated from high school. He was working for Mack Oil Company when he was drafted into the Army in September, 1952, serving during the Korean War and Guam for 2 years. Upon returning, he went back to work for Mack Oil and later Halliburton where he retired after 31 years of loyal service. After retirement he worked for BF Machine Shop.
Later, Paul met and married Barbara Ann (Appling) Yarbrough in November, 1996. They spent a lot of time fishing and traveling in their R.V. spending time their families and church family at New Hope Baptist Church West, where he was an active member.
Paul is survived by his wife Barbara, of the home; his son Gary of Sands Springs, daughter Jan and husband Vern of Elko, NV, son Jeff and wife Sharla of Altus, step-son Joey Stovall and wife Angela of Chino, CA, and step-daughter Dee Harding and husband Rick of Bartlesville; grandchildren Tyler Moore, Lori Moore, Steffanie Moore, Whitney and husband Trey Graham, Allison and husband Lee Gregg; step-grandchildren Terra and husband Andy Baldus, Saleena and husband Randy Bevard, Kody and Kim Goglio, Dan and Ashley Roberge, Boyce Stovall, Shannon and husband Chris Crabbe, Starla Jahn; numerous cherished great grandchildren; sisters, Verliene Hudson, and Alice Faye Turner and husband Noel both of Midwest City, Aleta Bryant and husband Frank of Kinta, OK, Linda Dowdell of OKC, Helen Sims of Waynesville, MO; brother Nelson Moore of Madill, OK.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Reba; brothers John Carroll Moore and Trellis Moore; 2 baby sisters Judy and Gloria; sisters, Bertie Ruth Johnson, Michael Ann Norton; sisters-in-law Patsy (Appling) Garrison and Edith (Bryant) Werner.
Family visitation is scheduled on Tuesday, November 7, from 5-7 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 8, at 1:30 P.M. at New Hope Baptist Church West (200 S 42nd St., Duncan) with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Freeman, Paul Walker, Eddie Byford, Paul Hughes, Ken Litchford, Mike Wilson, and Sam Amerson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Hope Baptist Church West Growth Fund or the charity of your choice.
