Perry's Story

Perry "Pat" Green, 83, of Duncan passed away peaceful at his home Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday March 23 at the Ray of Hope Church with Pastor Dow Pannell and Pastor Mike McCord officiating. Memorial services are being provided by Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Perry Pat Green was born on Nov. 2, 1933, in Stonewall County, Texas, to Dee R. Green and Cordelia (Hunter) Green.
Pat was a graduate of Texas Tech University in 1955. He loved football and Texas Tech; Pat started playing football as a freshman at Paducah High School in Paducah, Texas, and continued his football career throughout his college years at Texas Tech where he and his team went on to win the Gator Bowl in 1954. His camaraderie with his team allowed Pat to keep in touch with his teammates over the years and all throughout his life ending each meeting with them with the Lord's Prayer.
Pat married the love of his life Carolyn Sandlin on June 20, 1954, in Paducah, Texas. He worked as a general sales manager for Campbell-Sparks Chevrolet in Duncan from the 1960s to the 1980s; he started his own dealership Pat Green Auto Sales in Duncan in the 1980s before becoming a Realtor with Kay's Real Estate and then Re-Max of Duncan followed by his retirement in 2006.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed horses and team penning. Pat was a member of the USTPA and International Team Penning Association; a volunteer fireman for the fire departments at Hereford and Slaton, Texas, a football and basketball Referee with the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association and a member of the Ray of Hope Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Dee and Cordelia Green, and a brother Maxwell D. Green.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Carolyn Green of the home; his children and their spouses, Patricia DeWitt and her husband Gary of Comanche, OK; D'Ann Brown and her husband Shorty of Duncan, OK; Todd Green and his wife Mary Lou of Duncan; grandchildren, Joe Kidd, Benjamin Brown and his husband Jachin Merrill, Korie Willard and her husband Casey, Dylan Duke and his wife Leslie, Sadie Duke, Amber Duke, Tanner Duke, Ashley Green, Hunter Green, Oscar Martinez, Rafael Martinez; great grandchildren, Sydney, Sage, Scarlett, Braylynn, and Chloe.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Tom Sparks, Don Nutt, Bo Bowden, Carlis Pixley, Bob Smith and Jackie D Feagan . The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600 Doylestown, PA 18901 or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at 1359 Broadway Suite 1509 New York, NY 10018.
