Ruth M. Callaway, 96, of Duncan, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at her home in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth was born Oct. 5, 1920, at Owens Prairie, Oklahoma, to James Henry and Beulah (Bowden) Parker and attended Owens Prairie Schools. She married Jessie Clarence Callaway on June 16, 1936. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1988. They were ranchers and started with three head of cattle, while her husband worked a second job as a contract painter.
Ruth is survived by two children, Jimmy Dale Callaway and wife Jane of Duncan and Lawanda Kester and husband Jack of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Martha H. Soapes of California; three grandchildren: Cindy Sanner and husband Todd of Duncan, Sandra Heintzelman and husband Darryl of Oklahoma City and Larry Skinner and wife Maxine of Oklahoma City; two great-grandchildren: Blake and Shelby Heintzelman of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beulah Parker; her husband, J.C. Callaway; a grandson, Jimmy Dale Callaway Jr.; brothers, James C. Parker and Robert G. Parker; and sisters, Mary S. McDaniels and Betty A. Parker.
Honoraary bearers will be Darryl Heintzelman, Blake Heintzelman, Todd Sanner, Derald and Linda Suffridge, and Frances and the late Ross Coleman.
