Sheila's Story

Sheila Ruth (Gamblin) Speakes, 57, was born December 30, 1960 in Duncan, Oklahoma and passed away January 10, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

She was united in matrimony to Paul Speakes on Sept. 17, 1982. Her life revolved around her family. Sheila and Paul have 2 children and 4 grandchildren that she adored.

Sheila loved to travel and go to concerts. Her last concert with her husband Paul was ZZ Top. Paul surprised her with VIP tickets and she was able to go back stage, meet the band and get her picture made with the band. She had the time of her life. Her last HOORAH!

She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie Buster and Billye Bell; her father Bobby Jack Gamblin; a brother, Rodger Gamblin; a sister, Gaylena Gamblin; and her mother and father in law, Edward and Anna Speakes.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Paul Speakes of the home; 2 children, Sheryl Atwell and husband Erik of Marshfield, Missouri and Brandon Speakes and wife Jennifer of Marshfield, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Klay Atwell and wife Breanna of Springfield, Missouri, Kristofer Atwell of Utah, Haylee Atwell and Hannah Atwell of Marshfield, Missouri; 2 sisters Janie Holden and husband Kim of Duncan, Oklahoma and Judy Baskin and husband Jon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 2 brothers, Richard Gamblin and wife Bonnie of North Richland Hill, Texas, Chris Gamblin of Duncan, Oklahoma, sister-in-law, Debbie Helms and husband , Warsaw, Missouri and P.J. Smith, Comanche, Oklahoma.

Sheila was loved by so many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and so many friends.

We will miss you, but we will be together again one day.

A celebration of Sheila's life will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Marshfield, Missouri. Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at Duncan Cemetery, Duncan, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in care of the funeral home.
