Thelma's Story

Thelma Maxine Chaney, or "Maxie" as she was always known, was born Dec. 23, 1945, in Comanche.  She passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, May 18, 2017 at Duncan Regional Hospital, at the age of 71.  A funeral service will be held Monday May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dee Bowen officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.  Viewing will be Sunday 1-5, and Monday 9 a.m. until service time.
Maxie was the youngest daughter of Elbert N. and Hazel (Muncrief) Bowen.   She was raised by her aunt, Maxine Bowen.  She dearly loved her family and spending time with them all.
Survivors include her loving husband, Oscar Dale Chaney, of the home; one grandson, Lin Chaney and Kaci, Comanche; two step-daughters: Stephanie Thomason and Amy Parker, Ada, OK; two brothers: Wendell Bowen and wife Rita, Wynnewood, OK and David Paul Bowen and wife Elizabeth, Longview, TX; five sisters: Barbara Sue McMurtry, Comanche; JoAnn Bowden, Comanche; Helen Benigni and husband Bill, Granbury, TX; Becky Colvin and husband Tom, Tyler, TX; and Gaylon Wadsworth and husband Charles, Waurika, OK; one granddaughter, Savanna Thomason, Ada, OK; also, three great-grandchildren; and a long list of relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lin Chaney; and three brothers: Don Bowen, Kenneth Bowen, and Larry Bowen.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
