Thomas "Tommy" R. Greer was born in Wewoka, OK on November 23, 1934 to Warner W. and Dorothy Silver Greer. He proceeded into heaven at home May 5, 2019, surrounded by family and friends after an extended battle with kidney disease.

Tom was an amazing athlete and excelled in many sports including football, baseball, golf and track. He was named to the Oklahoma All-State Football team in the class of 1951, Duncan High School, and received a football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma; however, his first love was golf and he truly had a God-given gift for it. He chose to leave college and get a "Hands-On Degree" in the oil patch and he never looked back or regretted that decision. He worked as a mud engineer, oil field operator, and in all phases of production in the Rocky Mountains, Wyoming and North Dakota.

In 1972 when Tom was living in Houston, TX he married Welema Cheatwood Brown. A few years later, they founded "Gotco International" - the manufacturing and sale of downhole oil field equipment. Tom was very creative and was awarded Five United States and Foreign Patents for Oil field tools, the most widely known being the "MAPS" (Marine Abandonment Procedure System). He had a real gift for language and learned to converse in whatever country he was in. Tom and Welema traveled extensively all over the world. Tom's God given gift for playing golf and his business travels allowed him to play some of the finest golf courses in the world. Later, the Greer's sold Gotco and Tom, Marvin Musgrove, and Philip Landers, started Val-Wel, an oil field rental tool company in Okemah, OK. After that, the Greer's moved to Ponca City, buying and developing oil production in Kansas and Oklahoma. With the combinations of his business interest and golfing abilities, Tom acquired life long friends in many places throughout many countries. He was a generous man who gave of his time, talents and money. He was known by many as the "Johnny Appleseed" of golf. He shared his successes with so many who never were even made aware of their benefactor. Tom had a big heart and recognized the importance of "Making A Difference". He loved to tell stories and jokes, the only problem being he would start telling a joke and start laughing so hard, those around would join in the laughter long before he got to the punch line!

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sheri Lynn Greer; brother, Warner "Bill" Greer, and sister, Judy Smith Sullaway. He is survived by his wife Welema; two daughters, Deborah Greer and Gary Yates of Ponca City, and Senee' Brown Bocquin of Del City. One son, Larry Greer of Charlotte, NC; sister, Janice Waters of McKinney, TX; 7 grandchildren, Melissa Bocquin Mitchell and husband Chris of Del City, Marshall McAdams of Tulsa, Monica Bocquin of San Antonio, Tracy Bocquin of Del City, Lillian Bocquin of Austin, Corey Greer of Dallas, and Bryson Greer of Charlotte; 6 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Brianna, John Henry, Skylar and Zoey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many life long friend from high school, college, golfing, and so many other special friends.
