Vinita Mae Vails, a longtime resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away on Friday evening, October 20, 2017 at her home in Comanche. She was 83 years old.
Vinita was born October 15, 1934 in Comanche to Noah and Ethel (Maloy) Shelby. She and Mack L. Vails were married on October 15, 1951 in Velma, OK.
Survivors include her three children: Sherry Vails, Comanche, OK; Dennis Vails and wife Brenda, Burkburnett, TX; and Jan Johnson and husband Earl, Marlow, OK; eight grandchildren: Dustin Sparks, Dallas, TX; Tyler Sparks, Edmond, OK; Cathryn Luster, Comanche, OK; Jessica Priest, Comanche, OK; Jeffrey Vails, Abilene, TX; Amy Vails, Burkburnett, TX; Rebecca Camplain, Houston, TX; and Amanda Elroy, Marlow, OK; one sister, Katherine Anderson, Comanche, OK; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also had one very special friend, Stella Sllers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mack; two brothers: Bud Shelby and Burl Shelby; and two sisters: Maxine Wright and Virginia Finnell.
Vinita's favorite thing was dancing at the senior citizen dances. She loved going to see her last surviving sister, Katherine every day. She loved seeing her two great-granddaughters Paieton and Cheyenne every day.
At her request there will be no memorial service at this time.
